If possible get an AlienWare computer or laptop. It is has some of the best graphics ever. A laptop should be powerful enough for fallout and es5 but it would probably be better to spring for the computer.

Does anybody know when the Elder Scrolls V is going to be released?

I know that Bethesda is working on the Fallout series right now, but I like Elder Scrolls way more than Fallout and I haven't heard anything about the new ES game yet. The only rumor I heard of is that it will be in the middle of next year for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.Does anybody know when the Elder Scrolls V is going to be released?
A year or two after its announced.

Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?

I really liked Fallout 3 %26amp; New Vegas, so I'm thinking of playing an elder scrolls game. I am wondering if Skyrim will be much better than previous versions of Elder Scrolls and if I should start with that one? Will it have much better graphics than previous elder scrolls? Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?
Hard to say, as it hasn't been released yet. However, gameplay videos I've seen make the game look simply amazing. The graphics, gameplay, and fight-system are completely upgraded and it looks Game of The Year worthy already. It would be good for you to try out Oblivion, it's pretty cheap now and you can get versions that already come with the DLCs. However, Skyrim comes out in about 3 weeks so I doubt you'll be able to come close to finishing Oblivion by then. Hope I helped! :)
Look at videos. Theres a 30 minute demo on the site...Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?
Fallout 3 and New Vegas aren't that similar to the Elder Scrolls series, so just keep that in mind. I played Oblivion and it was a lot of fun. In some ways they are similar in the fact that they give you a lot of freedom. Sometimes too much freedom. It will have better gameplay and graphics then the previous games, as well as a huge sweeping storyline. Plus you get to kill dragons. If you consider the progression from one generation to the next, I definitely would say that it is going to be the best in the series. (From what I have seen)
i love the elder scrolls series and fallout series.skyrim looks to be another amazing elder scrolls game.if you haven't played any of them, you can start with skyrim because they are all separate games from each other.if you would like to try an elder scrolls game i would suggest morrowind game of the year for either pc or xbox 360,i think this is a much better game than oblivion.oblivion is a good game but the leveling system for the weapons and armor was not a good idea,at least not to me it wasn't.in morrowind if you can find it,you can use it.you can check out this site for more help and info.hope this helps.http://www.uesp.net/wiki/morrowind:morro鈥?/a>Is Elder Scrolls V Skyrim the best ever?
It's going to have better graphics, and I'm sure it will be an amazing game. But Oblivion was one of the best games I've ever played (that and Fallout 3) and it's definitely worth picking up. The way the series is made, though, it doesn't matter what game you start with. You can get Oblivion (since it's cheap now), and give it a go, or you can wait and play Skyrim instead and then go back and try Oblivion later if you like. It's really up to you.

you take them to certain people throughout the game, or you can use soul gems on them to recharge it

a simple "step by step" guide is this, you are already in the mages guild, so thats a bonus, go to the altar of enchanting, and bring charged soul gems, then you can add any spells that you know of, onto your weapons/armour

or if you want a simple recharge, use a charged soul gem

Difference between the elder scrolls iv oblivion collector's edition and game of the year edition?

What is the diffenence between the elder scrolls iv oblivion collector's edition and game of the year edition for pc?Difference between the elder scrolls iv oblivion collector's edition and game of the year edition?
The collector's edition is just the same old game, just with a special case and some behind-the-scenes stuff. The game of the year edition includes the original game, a somewhat unique case, and Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles addons. It's like two games in one. The game of the year edition is much better in my opinion.Difference between the elder scrolls iv oblivion collector's edition and game of the year edition?
Well the GoY edition has The Shivering Isles,Knights of the Nine. The collectors has more including concept art (i think) behind the scenes footage on a bonus disc.I think it has shivering isles n knights of the nine.Difference between the elder scrolls iv oblivion collector's edition and game of the year edition?

  • Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - What books have the best lore background?

I've been playing elder scrolls games since Daggerfall, but haven't taped much into the story. Can anyone suggest some good ingame book series that can give some nice back story and lore?

Thanks in advanceElder Scrolls V: Skyrim - What books have the best lore background?
Try out some of the books that you have noticed throughout the entire series. Books like "A Brief History of The Empire" or any of the books that have multiples like "The Mysterious Benenziah" or "Wolfqueen." I've done most of my Vvardenfell history research online. There are some really cool wikis online. for instance try this site .... http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Skyri鈥?/a> .... this will give you a basic history of Skyrim and from there you can click on some links to take you to other interesting facts and history. i highly recommend researching each of the different playable races. you'll learn a lot about the geography, history, and religion of each of the races and how they all relate to each other. i hope i helped! :)

It is avalible to download for free from the Bethesda websiteIm looking forward to the elder scrolls 5 skyrim but how many more elder scrolls games are gonna be out after?
Arena, Daggerfall, Redguard, BattleSpire, Marrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim.

I'm not sure how many are going to be out after. No one knows in fact, except the developers! :)Im looking forward to the elder scrolls 5 skyrim but how many more elder scrolls games are gonna be out after?

  • Can Elder Scrolls: Oblivion be played without a disc if I buy it for the PC?

I'm considering buying The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion for the PC, and I want to know if it can be played without the disc. I don't wanna have to keep putting in a disc everytime I want to play it, that would just be annoying. Is it like a, one-time install the game on my computer and never look at the disc again sort of thing? Or would I have to have it in everytime I want to play? Can Elder Scrolls: Oblivion be played without a disc if I buy it for the PC?
To Install it, you will need the cd, but if you've already got it installed, you can use a no-cd patch/crack. You can easily find one by searching on google. Basically when you put a cd into the computer to play a game, the entire game's already installed on the computer. The idea of having to put the disk in every time is to confirm that you actually own the disk and haven't just downloaded the game off the internet. The no cd crack/patch is a file that starts up when you load up the game and tricks the game into thinking the disk is there, even if it isn't.

Do I have to play all the previous Elder Scrolls before playing Skyrim?

I want to play Skyrim but I don't know if playing the previous Elder Scrolls will matter. So what do I do?Do I have to play all the previous Elder Scrolls before playing Skyrim?
Don't worrie about playing oblivion it doesn't have much to do with Skyrim anyways and Skyrim is way way way better.
No, playing the previous ones isn't required. And you can just read about the storyline of the previous games if your worried over the Internet. Only slight references to other parts of Tamriel are in skyrim such as the destroyed dark brotherhood sanctuary in Bravill. Skyrims basically a new beginning for a new character which is you and you'll get filled in along the way about other parts of tamriel. But just play Skyrim. It's amazing!Do I have to play all the previous Elder Scrolls before playing Skyrim?
I haven't played any of the previous elder scrolls games, but skyrim really appealed to me so i got it. It's really fun, and I really don't feel like I'm missing out on any information that would have needed to be revealed to me through previous games. so i say go ahead and get it. it's really fun, even if you haven't played the other ones.
I haven't played any of the previous games, and am still playing Skyrim. It really doesn't matter. They'll talk about Oblivion a little, but not enough to really be significant. There is actually a book in the game that tells the storyline of Oblivion so if you want, you can read it to know what happened. (Skyrim is placed 200 years after Oblivion).

But yeah. Play it. IT'S AMAZING. And don't forget to join the Dark Brotherhood. You'll get a really awesome horse.Do I have to play all the previous Elder Scrolls before playing Skyrim?
I didn't play any elder scrolls before skyrim but i love skyrim all the same, so no you don't and imo the characters look much better in skyrim than what I have seen in the other games (for good reason, Its newer.) but then again Im obsessed with aesthetics, if it doesnt look good, I generally hate it.
No need to play the others skyrim has a stand alone story with only small links to the previous games. Skyrim takes place 200 years after oblivion .... Also there is no save game/ character import like dragon age .....Happy gaming
no they somewhat correlate to each other but are not a continuation of previous versions, ive played the oblivion and its simmilar but nowhere near related to the skyrim
Nope; because the way they did the Elder Scrolls series is; each game is a new land and they said they don't want to do the same land twice; I.E. Cyrodill; Morrowind.
You have to finish all scrolls before playing skirim
no. Its a stand alone game.

How does Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the year edition work?

When playing elder scrolls IV oblivion game of the year edition (goty) ho w does the game incorporate the shivering isles expansion into the game is it just part of the main quest or a different thing completely (or somewhere in between)

I have the PS3 version of Oblivion

Also how does the Game of the Year: Prima Official Game Guide lay out shivering isles how does it work?!!How does Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the year edition work?
Shivering Isles is just another quest line, similar to Knights of the Nine. In the 360 version, if you install Shivering Isles, you get a quest pop-up telling you about a door in Niben Bay, which is the gateway to the Shivering Isles. How does Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game of the year edition work?
I'm pretty sure the shivering isles is more of a side story type thing. So it doesnt appear if you just do main story quest.

What do you want most in the new Elder Scrolls game?

A less exploitable leveling system, it was far to easy to jump and summon **** over and over again and become a master of acrobatics and conjuration. Almost all the skills were heavily exploitable. Next, I would like to see a greater variation in NPC's, making them fully unique, and less like they have down syndrome. Bethesda should borrow some of what Fallout 3 did. Incorporating complex Dialogue trees, and the Perk system should be introduced into The Elder Scrolls. Maybe re-label the Perks as Feats. And The Magic systems should be more varied. Weak Fireball spells shouldn't look the Same as Master fireball spells. And it's be amazing if spells and weapons allowed you to do damage to the environment. Setting fire to the woods of skyrim would be a blast :D

I'd also welcome better 3rd person character animation, and graphics. As far as confirmed things go, bethesda has said they are introducing a wind engine adding a ridiculous amount of detail to the enviorment. I can barely wait, I'm so ******* excited for this game! What do you want most in the new Elder Scrolls game?

I haven't experienced this problem on my Xbox, but I do think I can help. I know that for the Xbox 360, load spots, certain screens and graphics are saved in the system's cache making loading times quicker. You can clear the cache by holding the A button while the game boots up to the point that the Bethesda Studios logo comes up. I always just wait until the main screen comes up for reassurance. Whenever load times get to be really long or things start screwing up, I generally just clear the cache and it tends to help. Hope this helps you.

No, but it does enhance the experience. The king that appears in Oblivion is the same king from ES1 and the jail cell you escape from in the beginning is also the same one use escape in that game. You'll also hear people talking about the condition Morrowind has been left in after the end of that game. There's even a series of books in Oblivion that is a continuation of a book series in Morrowind. So while you don't need to know the stories from the previous games to enjoy them, it's just awesome having a knowledge of the back story, and how each country is connected.Do i need to know about the elder scrolls 1 2 and 3 for me to understand elder scrolls 4?10 points?

Is there any game out there like oblivion where u can explore and free roam cities? and do missions or quests? Thats what i like. What is a good rpg for 360 or ps3 beside the elder scrolls series?
it is a shame that there isnt very many games like Oblivion and Morrowind. Oblivion is the best game i have ever played. Mass Effect is also a good game. Lets take the bad news first. the only game on the xbox 360 right now besides Oblivion in the Fantasy Sandbox RPG genre is Two Worlds and i cant recommend it. it is a poor game. hoever, you should know that some people have been able to look past the bad things in the game and actually love it... so mayby you should give it a trey. The good news it that there are two games coming in the end of the year who could be really interesting for Elder Scrolls fans while we are waiting on the Elder Scrolls V to be confirmed. the first one is Fable 2 from Lionhead Studios, set in a fantasy world named Albion, this game promis alot of interesting things. the other is Fallout 3 from Bethesda. trough not a Fantasy RPG it is still a RPG and with the makers of Oblivion behind it is hart to believe it isnt going to be good. hopefully they are starting on Elder Scrolls V when they are done.

Another game who could be interesting is Gothic IV. this game was revealed to be released on PC and next generation consols but not wich one. it will probably be xbox 360 and/or Playstation 3... i dont think they are gonna release it on Wii.

You could also download Fable on xbox live (xbox originals) and mayby get a idea off what the Fable universe is all about. What is a good rpg for 360 or ps3 beside the elder scrolls series?

  • What computer software does Bethesda use to create The Elder Scrolls Oblivion?

I would like to know if there is video game software out there that the everyday person can buy and can use to create a game similar to The Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Morrowind. ThanksWhat computer software does Bethesda use to create The Elder Scrolls Oblivion?
Well, XNA game studio is the programming language used to make XBOX 360 games, so I would check that out if I were you. You can download it at the official microsoft site. In order to run it you need visual studio which you can download too. Hope this helped!

EDIT: You could use the elder scrolls construction set but that is to make mods and houses and new armors for the game. If you like that google it.

Where do you think the next Elder Scrolls game will take place?

Personally I would like to see Akavir, what do my fellow Elder Scrolls fanatics think?Where do you think the next Elder Scrolls game will take place?
yeah something like hammerfell, valenwood, or summerset isle, its always nice to have a different elder scrolls culture and experience something new each time
I can't recall the name of it atm, but the games very rarely mention a foreign continent beyond Tamriel where no human beings dwell anymore, as they've all been eaten by crazy vampiric beast-folk. All the races there are mentioned as being completely different from/alien to whats in Tamriel as well. I'd like a game set there, myself. Completely shake things up.Where do you think the next Elder Scrolls game will take place?
I think that there are a lot of possibilities. Bethesda is a great game making team. Lol if they wanted to, I bet they could make it in Detroit.

In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?

I.E. Surface Cyrodil, not talking about the dungeons and caves and such, but rather what are the real life measurements of the game is one where to measure from one end of the game map to the other?

I know, weird question, but the reason I as is that they actually do give measurements for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (roughly 16 sq miles), and I am trying to figure out what to expect from the game with one I already know.In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?
The series has always dramatically ratcheted up the map size from title to title, but Skyrim has been confirmed to be roughly the same size as Oblivion. The land of Skyrim covers approximately 16 square miles and contains 5 major cities and over 130 different dungeons to explore.

In interviews they did say its a little bigger than Oblivion though. In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?
Skyrim is roughly the same size as oblivion, but they have shtloads more content jammed into it.

The Elder Scrolls Oblivion 5 year Anniversary edition or standard version?

I am going to by The Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion on pc. Should I spend more money on the 5 year anniversary edition or save money and buy the standard version? The Elder Scrolls Oblivion 5 year Anniversary edition or standard version?
Here is a quick breakdown of the versions I have seen available:

    Original Oblivion...

This is just the plain vanilla game with no addons.

    Game of the Year Version...

This version has "Shivering Isles" and "Knights of the Nine" addons (in addition to the vanilla game of course).

Game of the Year Deluxe Version...

This version has "Shivering Isles", "Knights of the Nine", "Wizards Tower" (Frostcrag Spire), "Thieves Den" (Dunbarrow Cove), "Mehrune's Razor", "Vile Lair" (Deepscorn Hollow), "Orrery", "Horse Armour", and "Spell Tomes". (I don't think "Fighters Stronghold" (Battlehorn Castle) is included in this).

    Five Year Anniversary Edition...

This version has "Shivering Isles" and "Knights of the Nine" addons. It also has a "making of" DVD and a map. (The gameplay content of this version is identical to the Game of the Year Version).

That i need to play the other games to understand whats going on? ThanksDo i need to have previous information from other Elder Scrolls games to understand Skyrim?
You don't need to play the other games, the story is different in each game. If you ever get bored of skyrim (that will take a long time...) you can always buy TES IV: Oblivion and TES III: Morrowind.Do i need to have previous information from other Elder Scrolls games to understand Skyrim?
Yes and no. Yes because some of the characters are the same, and all elder scrolls games have similar features, ex: magc, weps, armors, etc. But also no because the story is different every single time. So to sun it all up:

    Yes: familiarization with game features

No: not same storyDo i need to have previous information from other Elder Scrolls games to understand Skyrim?
Not at all. You'll understand a bit more having played the previous games, but overall Skyrim has nothing to do with them.
not really im the same as you i had never played an elder scrolls game before this and i just picked it up and played it,its a great play and has tons of replay value, it is really worth all the hype and the few references to the other elder scrolls games there are, they're all explained throughout the game play.

Do I need to play the other games so i can get what is going on?Is skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?
Neither have I and I still managed to log 70+ hours in the game. It definitely is worth it.
I never bought any other Elder Scrolls game before either until I heard some people mention it, so I decided to check it out. The general idea of the game was picked up for me after a few hours of gameplay. Plus how big the world is and how long the game will last you'll most likely love the game.

Hope that helped :DIs skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?
Skyrim is a great game. If you have ever played any form of fallout (3 or 4) then it plays very similarly to that. It is basically fallout without guns and with magic :) with a large vast map and if you enjoy it, you will be spending much more time on it than you think.
No, the stories of the games aren't linked. Playing the previous games (especially Oblivion) would help you get into the controls and idea of the game easier, but you can still get into the game pretty easily. Is skyrim good if I never played Elder Scrolls?
yeah its awesome ive never played any of the other ones and this is by far one the best games i have ever gotten its 300+ hours long and theres alot of stuff to do you'll never get bored unless you run out of quests which is hard.l
I had never played elder scrolls but skyrim is definitely worth buying, it has so many different roots to go down and doesn't force you to do one specific thing. I can spend hours playing it and I would definitely recommend it.

  • Why do you always start as a prisoner in the elder scrolls?

i mean it makes no sense? and does that mean we start as a prisoner in skyrim? im not talking about all the elder scrolls im talking about 3 and 4.Why do you always start as a prisoner in the elder scrolls?
I guess there' no real explanation. The whole idea of being in prison gives some good Role-play ideas though, and you don't necessarily have to have done something bad, it might have been the case you were imprisoned for some misunderstanding.

Oh, and yes, you will be a prisoner in skyrim. The game starts with your character being led to his/her execution.
I always wondered that, but at least in Morrowind there is an explanation as to why you're there, in Oblivion not even the freaking emperor could figure it out. I think in Skyrim though, you'll start out somewhere different considering it's more of a woodland and mountains kind of game rather than a somewhat industrialized city. Why do you always start as a prisoner in the elder scrolls?
If you have oblivion for pc there is a mod that gives you an alternate beginning where you start in a ship... apparently like the beginning in morrowind
IDK maybe its just because they like to use the cliche' "Rags to Riches" story line. Forget about Elder Scrolls, Buy Bioshock Infinity. Why do you always start as a prisoner in the elder scrolls?
prolly cause the game before that

Do you have to play the other Elder Scrolls games to play skyrim?

I've never played an Elder Scrolls game, and I was just wondering if playing previous ones was necessary to know what's going on in skyrim. It looks like a great game but I wanna be able to understand the story.Do you have to play the other Elder Scrolls games to play skyrim?
Don't worry about that. There's no consistent plot to follow, although the neat thing is that every sequel of the Elder Scrolls mentions SOMETHING about the events that happened in the Elder Scrolls game before it. Like, Skyrim will have people explain about the Oblivion Crisis that happened in TESIV, and so on.

Altough, I seriously recommend you play The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just for the sake of feeling the gameplay difference. I mean, think about this. You will add hours and hours of more fun just by playing them all, and not just the most recent release. Plus, once you ARE done with Morrowind and Oblivion, you will see just how much more diverse Skyrim will be, and will want to play that even more.

Trust me, I would just do that. Don't forget to buy the Game of the Year Edition for Morrowind, and get the 5th Anniversary Edition for Oblivion. See, the 5th Anniversary is pretty much the Game of the Year eidtion and the Collector's edition put together for the price of one.

    Have fun.
    No, you don't.

You'll catch on with the story/lore pretty quickly.

But I do recommend playing the other ones, with enhanced graphics mods, preferably before Skyrim. And they're cheap. Playing through Oblivion will give you a nice idea of what Skyrim will be like (but Skyrim is much better).Do you have to play the other Elder Scrolls games to play skyrim?
Nope. This one takes place 200 years after the last one. If you've played the previous game you'll get more of the references in the books, but the stroy has no relation.
    nope

Skyrim has an entirely different story.

It'll have an occasional reference to previous games but it will not influence the story majorly.Do you have to play the other Elder Scrolls games to play skyrim?
It's not necessary to play the previous games
Playing elder scrolls would help you to understand the races, armour, weapons and stuff. But you don't need to.
    no.

its a new story, people and towns

and get it. its a great game
    Skyrim is a standalone game

older games are still very cool to play!
    Not at all.

What happens when you become a werewolf on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?

I really want to be a werewolf on Elder scrolls V, but I don't know what happens? Do you get to choose whether or not to transform at night? And my friend said something about people killing you for no reason. What happens when you become a werewolf on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
    - Transforming at night is optional.

-Being a werewolf does not allow you to sleep in beds anymore, preventing you from getting Rested and Well Rested bonuses.

-To extend and regenerate hp, you have to feed on your foes corpses.

-You can't loot or pick up stuff when in wolf form, but can manipulate levers or chains.

-If transforming in a public place, people will become hostile to you.

-Faster stamina regeneration and very fast sprinting.

-Pressing the shout button when in wolf form will detect life for some enemies, meaning they glow red and let you know there are bad guys there.

That pretty much sums it up, I'm a werewolf and it's pretty sweet. Don't become a vampire, daylight hurts you, towns will instantly attack you/shun you, etc. Being a wolf doesn't have negative effects on socializing with people. What happens when you become a werewolf on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
    advantages:

You can transform once a day.

    +100 hp

    can sprint extremely fast

    100% immune to diseases

Roars much like shouts but only for werewolf

    Wolves don't attack

    +100 stamina

    Disadvantages:

No health regen(must feed on dead bodies)

Anyone will attack you in werewolf form

If someone sees you transform it's a fine

    No rest bonus

Can't loot or pick anything up

That's all I can think of anyone have anything else speak up would love to know if I'm missing out on anythingWhat happens when you become a werewolf on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim?
After you complete the underforge you have the ability to transform once per day by using your power(optional). But I wouldn't recommend transforming in front of people. Lycanthropy is a crime just like cannibalism and vampirism.

Is The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion like Fable?

I am planning on getting The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim, but I like to get the game that preceded what im getting. I just wanted to know because I've never played it, but I played Fable (which I REALLY LOVED) and wanted to know if they were similar. Is The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion like Fable?
The only real similarity is the fantasy genre. Oblivion let's you customize your character more than Fable does. It's got a completely open world and hundreds of quests. You can choose to do good or evil deeds in the same way as Fable and your reputation will reflect your decisions. I would definitely recommend playing Oblivion before skyrim comes out. There are a million things to do and see and you can get a good feel for the game engine that Skyrim is based on.Is The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion like Fable?
Oblivion is a more open, free world type of game, whereas Fable is more linear.

In Oblivion u can choose what u want to do. U can totally ignore the main quest for example and just either expore the world, or do side quests.

I like Oblivion a lot more than Fable.

Oblivion is sold cheaply now so it's a good investment. Is The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion like Fable?
Fable is more of an adventure game with a few RPG elements like the skills. Oblivion is a true RPG with leveling, skills, guilds, main quests and side quests. The world is huge and completely open. It's also in first person though you can switch to third person.
It's alot deeper than Fable. I don't like Fable myself, but I love Oblivion. It's a little more like The Fallout games.

Will elder scrolls skyrim link upto to the previous elder scrolls games?

You see i have pre-ordered elder scrolls v:skyrim for the pc but i havent played any of the other elder scrolls games can anyone sum up what is going on or redirect me to a link or somet.

I basically want to know he story so far

Thanx in advanceWill elder scrolls skyrim link upto to the previous elder scrolls games?
The stories are intertwined but take place years after each other and are not directly related. The previous games story can usually be found in books in game.

I will give a brief summary of the story of each.

Arena: An adventurer must rescue the Emperor from his treacherous Battle Mage

Daggerfall: An adventurer must prevent an powerful Iron golem from ending up in the wrong hands.

Morrowind: An adventurer is tasked by the emperor to uncover the secrets behind an ancient prophecy and prevent the rise of a new god

Oblivion: An adventurer must seek out the heir to the imperial throne after the Emperor is slain and prevent the invasion of the world (Tameriel) but the Daedra (TES Demon) Mehrunes Dagon

Skyrim is set 200 years after Oblivion. With no emperor the empire is falling apart. In the province of Skyrim there is civil war and a new threat arises in the form of the Nord god of Destruction. Will elder scrolls skyrim link upto to the previous elder scrolls games?
No, they are all different. Which is kind of a good thing. The last one was fun, Oblivion, but with a sword and shield is was super hard to kill multiple enemies at the same time, even if they were lower levels. Will elder scrolls skyrim link upto to the previous elder scrolls games?
Each TES game has a different story. You won't miss anything much except a few small references.

What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Platinum Hit and the game of the year edition?

    Hey,

Before I buy, I found there was a platinum edition of the game and is it better than the game of the year edition? What is the difference between The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Platinum Hit and the game of the year edition?
To be honest I don't think there is any difference but the way it is packaged like case wise.

The elder scrolls 4 goty maddnes sword vs umbra ?

im thinking which sword is better ? the umbra is the strongest sword in the elder scrolls 4 oblivion but the elder scrolls 4 shivering isles is newer and the maddnes sword is the strongest in that game so since the madness sword is newer is it sronger ??? pleaz help .The elder scrolls 4 goty maddnes sword vs umbra ?
Based purely on damage, Umbra is stronger then a perfect Madness Longsword (the madness sword is level-scaled), however, the Madness sword also has a Damage Health enchantment, which will bring it's damage higher against enemies who can't resist the effect.

A Fine (or higher, Very FIne, Grand or Perfect) Madness longsword will do more damage then Umbra against enemies without any spell resistance, but possibly less against enemies who are resistng the effect. Umbra also has a Soul Trap effect, which will automatically fill your soul gems each kill, so you may prefer that if you use soul gems a lot.

What would you think of a fallout/elder scrolls crossover game?

Lets say your a Brotherhood of steel solider who's being sent back in time thorough a time machine built by the science section of the Brotherhood. Your being sent back to the year 2077 to prevent the war from happening but something goes wrong with the machine and you are sent to the elder scrolls timeline. "By Azura, by Azura, by Azura!"

not going to happen. They are separate franchises and the game developers would not waste their time thinking of such an idea.
Well it can be approved. I like the idea of a Brotherhood of Steel soldier traveling in time, but perhaps a different time period?

    1. I have never bought one of these games before and want to know which is the best?

    2. I like vampires and werewolves does it have allot of that?

    3. Can you play as a man or woman? What is the best elder scrolls to buy?
Skyrim is the best Oblivian had vampires and skyrim got that and added werewolves u can play as a male or female
Depends if you're a fan of the classics, if so you can download Daggerfall for free but you'll need to use dosbox to run it. Morrowind Elder Scrolls III is pretty decent too however rather old now seeing as it was released in 2001 (I think). As for oblivion great game and I'd totally recommend it. As for werewolves and vampires, yeah there's a bit of that, not a great deal though. And I haven't played Skyrim. What is the best elder scrolls to buy?
Skyrim looks the best. If you're on a very tight budget, I'd recommend maybe buying Oblivion second hand for practically nothing, and seeing if you like it, so you don't end up spending money on Skyrim, and not enjoying it, because they are a similar sort of thing, I doubt if you hated one you'd like the other

the coin symbol is the price of the item, the feather is its weight, the fire is its damage and the far right one is the items condition.

Also, is the Empire in the elder scrolls 5 skyrim evil? What is there background? What is the background of the stormcloaks? I really trying to decide on which side to take and who is right or wrong.I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?
    ****SPOILERS****

The only backstory you really need to know concerning past games is that the Oblivion Crisis occurred hundreds of years before the events in Skyrim (that is covered in TES IV: Oblivion), and that the Imperial Legion and the Blades have since crumbled in power. The Aldmeri Dominion (a race of ultra-elven-supremacists) have become a thorn in everyone's side, having fought a great war against the Imperial Legion, a war which ended with the White Gold Concordat. The Concordat, to many Nords and others in Skyrim, was a sellout by the Imperials to the Dominion. The High King of Skyrim was a part of this, and when Ulfric Stormcloak rebelled, it pitted the Imperials against the Stormcloaks. Ulfric, at the start of the game, has just been captured after he used his Thu'um to shout the High King apart. People in Skyrim either think that he is a traitor and has to answer for his crime (most races besides Nords) or that he was part of an ancient ritual where he proved that he, not the existing High King, was fit to rule Skryim.

    That's where you come in.

The Empire in Skyrim is what's left of the Legion from TES IV. They've been spread thin, and are certainly corrupt. However, despite all of their misgivings, they've held Skyrim under their dominion since its creation, and if the Stormcloaks succeed, all races other than the Nords will be expelled out of Skyrim. (Consider them like the Roman Legion under Caesar, both good and bad)

The Stormcloaks are the loyal followers of the rebel leader, Ulfric Stormcloak, Jarl of Windhelm. They are (mostly) extremely racist, and in Windhelm have created a ghetto for Dark Elves where they are abused and mistreated. Stormcloaks believe that the Empire sold out to the Dominion, and that they've influenced Skyrim long enough. They fight to free Skyrim and argue that all true Nords would follow their example. They have more moral support on their side.

Neither side is right or wrong--each has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, the Stormcloaks generally focus on Light Armor while the Imperial Legion endorses Heavy Armor. Either way, you'll find some things among each side that you'll probably feel uncomfortable about (it's supposed to be somewhat real warfare).

    Hope this helped!
your choice in the intro quest only changes minor details, such as starting equipment (which can be replaced by looting enemies within that quest), your contact in Riverwood, and some minor changes within the civil war questline in the form of dialogue options.

In the civil war questline, your decision determines where you will be invading. To figure out beforehand which holds are allied to which faction, you can look at any of the territory maps (located in any jarl's home building). they can be recognized by red and blue flags pinned to them.

Many people are biased against the Empire, as they are to be executed by them for no real reason in the intro, as was I from the beginning, but neither is really better than the other.

TES 5 Skyrim was my first game in this series, and I knew next to nothing of the backstory until i played through. basically, there was a "Great War", where the Empire almost lost. they signed a treaty, which banned worship of Talos (one of the 9 deities) because he was a man first. The civil war is, in part, a result of this, as well as a racial/nationalistic war. the Stormcloak Nords (Skyrim natives) don't like the Empire (seen as puppets of the elves) controlling them, or the non-human races (for varied reasons).

One of the reasons I like Skyrim is that there is no need to know the history going in, as you can learn it as you go along, often at your leisure.I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?
It depends what you think of. They both have their goods and flaws.

I think it is the type of race you choose (My opinion). Since I made a Dark Elf, I chose the imperials because Stormcloaks are racist to the elves mostly to the Dark elves in Morrowind. Ulfric has killed lots of innocent people. He just wants to gain power. Although Imperials have done many bad things as well.
neither is really right or wrong, if you wan to get a clearer picture of the past games, look for the books in game about the empire and stormcloaks, they give very clear pictures of the storyline.I have just started the elder scrolls 5 skyrim. Is there any back story I should know from the past games?
Research Storm cloaks and imperials battle and your set.Its not really needed though.

Will Elder Scrolls V Skyrim be the last game of the Elder Scrolls series?

I just need to know. I mean i LOVE the elder scrolls series and i dont want to see it end but i have a feeling that this is going to be the last one :(Will Elder Scrolls V Skyrim be the last game of the Elder Scrolls series?
If it makes money for Bethesda, then it won't be the last.
There hasn't been any response from the producers but ask your self this why would they stop a series of games that have been recieving many good responses and selling millions. Hopefully they wont stop. Will Elder Scrolls V Skyrim be the last game of the Elder Scrolls series?
i don't think so. elder scrolls v is only a sequel to the fourth one. and also being a total freak about the game i really really hope not!!
it might or might not.it depends if a lot of people buy it.Will Elder Scrolls V Skyrim be the last game of the Elder Scrolls series?

  • What happens after you complete Oblivion Elder scrolls main quest?

I'm playing Oblivion Elder Scrolls on XBOX 360. I was just wondering if anyone knew if you can still do all the side quests after you finish the main quest? I'm close to the end, and I didn't want the game to just be over with after I finish the main quest. Is it like Fable/Fable 2 where you can keep playing after wards? What happens after you complete Oblivion Elder scrolls main quest?
Indeed you can. One of the great things about the Elder Scrolls games is that they're not traditional narratives, with a beginning and an end. The main quest is just one thing you can do (or not do - you can just ignore it if you choose!), so when you finish it the world continues and the side quests are still there. (In fact, in the previous game, Morrowind, the main quest was designed as basically an introduction to the world; it wasn't the purpose of the game at all). What happens after you complete Oblivion Elder scrolls main quest?
I'm actually playing that game right now for about the 12th time. I have never completed the main mission. I always skipped around it because I figured you couldn't play after you beat it. But this time I will definitely beat the main mission. Isn't there supposed to be a new one coming out next year or something? Or maybe it was another Fallout which would be even better. What happens after you complete Oblivion Elder scrolls main quest?
the game is endless when u finish the main quest u can still continue ding the side quests but when u finish the main quest u get a sweet reward its this amazing armor think its called imperial dragon armor oh and everyone loves u alot better cuz u no u kinda saved the world and all
yes you keep playing. Even if your finish everything 100%, you can go back and do as you wish.

Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?

I need a way to restart Elder Scrolls:Oblivion and keep my character and all of his attributes and all of his items.

Is there a plugin or command that will let me keep all of my attributes and all of my items in chests that I have and restart the entire main story with no major skills? Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?
If you start over you can't keep your character unless you save a new one in a different slot. The game can't be redone with everything built up.Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?
There are a lot of mods for Oblivion out there so if you're playing on PC then it's probably possible (personally I like building up a new character so I've never tried).

You could try searching the mod sites themselves

or maybe ask in a few gaming forums. Is there a way to restart elder scrolls and keep your character?
As Shazzy just said you cannot do so, unless you happned to be training both characters at the same time!

Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?

Ok, I have to admit, skyrim looks amazing. But before I got it, or preordered it, I wanted to know if I needed to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand it. Do I? If I do, will someeone please tell me a brief summary of the previous ones or give me a link to read it?Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?
No, I really doubt it. Each Elder Scrolls game has it's own unique storyline and characters. You can play the previous games if you want to get more out of the lore, but by all means, you don't have to in order to enjoy it. I played (and loved) Oblivion long before I ever played Morrowind.
In terms of storyline, no. Skyrim is a completely different game and has a completely different storyline. However, it would help if you have played Oblivion since the concept is fairly similar. Unlike Oblivion (following on from Morrowind), Skyrim is set 200/300 years later and the plot is altogether more complex, however possible enthralling.

So to conclude, Skyrim will be amazing however you do not need to play other Elder Scrolls games in order to understand Skyrim (it would help if you've played RPG games before).Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?
No. There might be vague references to the events on oblivion, but normally events are referenced in lore found in in-game books and so on. Each Elder Scrolls game is pretty much a stand alone - they are set in the same universe, but you don't need to play the previous ones to understand a new one. The plot in the previous elder scrolls games weren'tt that important anyway (the main quest sort of took a backseat to the world and all the side quests)
There may be things in the game that are little winks and nods to people who have played the other games, but I don't think that you need to play them in order to understand the storyline. I'm fairly sure, anyway.Do i have to play the previous elder scrolls game to understand skyrim?
Absolutely not. I haven't played any of the previous Elder Scrolls games, and Skyrim is the best game I have ever played.
No, each Elder Scrolls game is designed to be understandable for a new player.
Not at all. I didn't play any of the previous games before Oblivion, and I still fell in love with the gameplay and story.
i suggest playing the elder scrolls iv oblivion first but they dont completely go in order
    Nope, anyone can play it

What character in oblivion elder scrolls iv should i be for achievements?

i just bought oblivion elder scrolls IV and haven't really played it yet, witch character should I be to get 1000/1000 gamerscore.

i'm hoping to get it all in 1 save since I understand the game is very long.

so if I want to get all the achievements, witch character and star constalation thingy should i choose, thanks. What character in oblivion elder scrolls iv should i be for achievements?
To be honest it doesn't matter what type of character you are. All the achievements are just progressing the story line and progressing through the various guilds. It doesn't matter what profession you are; my character is a warrior wearing heavy armor yet is head of the Mage's guild.

I can't see how you can get everything in 1 save, but hey, good luck!
A good character is the High elf battlemage, born under the sign of the mage. The high elf gets a good magic rating, plus a battlemage is good with the blade as well as magic, so is useful when the magicka runs out, or when facing idiots like Mankar Cameron who have reflect spell enchantments. Although it's not hard to complete everything with any type of character, the mage, with a decent shock spell, is much easier to play as.What character in oblivion elder scrolls iv should i be for achievements?
Race: Redguard, Sign: Atronach, Specialization: Combat, Favored Attributes: Luck and Endurance, Major Skills: Block, Heavy Armor, Blade, Sneak, Restoration, Illusion and Destruction or Alchemy

Race: Bretan, Sign: Atronach, Specialization: Magic, Favored Attributes: Luck and Endurance, Major Skills: Destruction, Illusion, Restoration, Sneak, Alchemy, Alteration, Conjuration

all of the other answers will not do it, and I have beaten the game with every kind of character
I would choose the Argonian. Great all around character. You can breath underwater which is always good and a great get away hiding spot. What character in oblivion elder scrolls iv should i be for achievements?
It Doesnt matter but the constellation thingy or so you call it i like the tower you can open locked dorrs
i chose the imperial and the game was kind of simple, since im pro at fighting and warrior sign for strength and endurance

How do you kill a guard in the elder scrolls 3?

In the elder scrolls 3 morrowind, I think the guards are invincible. Are they? If so is there a way to kill them? How do you kill a guard in the elder scrolls 3?
No they are not, they are just bloody hardcore, you need to be a much higher level to kill a guard, but by the time you get to that level you will probably have better stuff than them anyway.

Also if you kill a guard, ALL other guards in that town/city, and maybe in other cities too i can't remember, will all try to arrest/attack you. It is not worth trying to kill guards.

To be honest, if you are really stuggling with the game, try to play the next one in the series, "Oblivion" as it is much more user friendly, simpler, probably more fun and much more accesible. Plus it looks better ;) Hope this helped

How is the character creation on Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and how long is the game? How is the Character Customization in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and How Long is it?
The character creation in Oblivion is pretty good considering how old it is now. As for length, you could pour hundreds of hours into it and still not get bored of it. And then there's the dlc stuff like Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, etc. which adds even MORE length to it.How is the Character Customization in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and How Long is it?
The caracter custimization is okay, you got to remember that it came out years ago. I would reccommend you get it before skyrim comes ouy just to get a feel for the game. Since it's old you can get it for cheap. The game will take as long as it takes you to finish all the quests. Just the main quest is like over 150-200 hours (I think, I usually do side quests along the way) So its quite long. You dont HAVE to finish the game though. You dont even need to do the main quest. YOU choose how and what you want to play in it.How is the Character Customization in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and How Long is it?
creation is good.the game is endless.my friend put over 5000hours into that game since it came out and he has yet to beat it.
Dont even bother with a oblivion because there is a new elder scrolls coming out this year.

In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree?

In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree? For example, I want to level up lockpicking and I'm only making a small amount of progress each successful pick. If I put a point in the first skill bubble (novice lockpicking), will I get more skill points per successful pick?In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree?
No. However you can increase the speed of training lockpicking and other skills by using the stones located around the map. The Thief, Warrior and Mage stones are located near Embershard Mine just south west of Riverwood. These 3 stones (can only have 1 activated at any time) grant you a 20% boost in the experience you gain in the governing skills.
The Warrior governs Archery, Block, Heavy Armor, One-Handed, Two-Handed and Smithing.
The Mage governs Alteration, Conjuration, Destruction, Illusion, Restoration and Enchanting.
The Thief governs Alchemy, Light Armor, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Sneak and Speech.
As you are wanting to get up lockpicking I suggest travelling to The Guardian stones and activating the Thief one. At a later date you can activate any of the other stones so you do not have to commit yourself to the thief.
No, it still levels the same, I'm afraid.

The best way to increase your lockpick skill is to pick tougher locks, I find. Master locks sometimes increase you by a full level.

An easy way of doing this is join the Thieves' Guild. You will come accross plenty of locks doing their missions, and after a while you get a skeleton key. It works just like a lockpick, but doesn't break.

(Don't complete the Thieves' Guild missions until you are at the desired level in lockpicking as you'll need to give the skeleton key away at the end.)In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree?
as someone else has said if you activate stones it helps you gain experience faster. i found that the lover stone hleps all your attributes gain experience 15% faster so i have that one activated.
only if it says you will.if it said novice gain xp quicker then you would, but other wise no.hope this helps. In Elder Scrolls Skyrim, do you level up your skill faster by putting a point in that tree?
    No

On elder scrolls 4 oblivion how do you return from being a vampire?

on elder scrolls 4 oblivion i turned into a vampire, i want to know how to return 2 normal. On elder scrolls 4 oblivion how do you return from being a vampire?
Vampirism is both a boon and a curse in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. While it does grant you significant attribute and skills bonuses, it also requires that you drink human blood on a regular basis. If you aren't getting a daily dose of blood, you will begin to suffer damage from sunlight and will be forced to travel during the evening hours. If you go too long without blood, your character will die.

Therefore, should you become a vampire (after contracting Porphyric Hemophilia or via Vicente Valtieri's Darkness Eternal quest), you may find yourself wishing that you could return to the land of the living once the detrimental effects start to become annoying. If you speak with the healers within any of the city's chapels, you'll find that you have a dialogue choice to inquire about a cure for vampirism. You'll get the same dialogue choice if you're a member of the Dark Brotherhood and speak with Vicente after becoming a vampire. Regardless of who you inquire about a cure to, they'll send you to the Imperial City Arcane University to speak with Raminus Polus. Apparently the wizard has been researching such a cure and might be able to help guide you in the right direction.

Raminus isn't a whole lot of help, unfortunately. He does mention that a cure may be possible, but he only knows of one person that can confirm if such a cure exists for sure: Count Hassildor of Skingrad. Fast-travel to Skingrad and speak with Hassildor's steward, Hal-Liurz. Tell her you're here about a cure for vampirism and she will fetch the Count for you. After a considerable wait, Hassildor will approach you and tell you that he's been researching a possible cure for vampirism. The Count's wife, Rona, is also a vampire, and she has refused to embrace it. Refusing to feed, she has slipped into a coma and has not awoken ever since. Hassildor cannot risk bringing to much attention to himself or his condition, so he asks you to continue the research, promising a reward should you find one for his wife. Once you accept, he tells you that the witches of Glenmoril have been able to cure vampirism in the past, and he only knows of one such witch within Cyrodiil. This woman supposedly lives along the Corbolo River somewhere to the east of Imperial City and south of Cheydinhal.

The witch can be found at Drakelowe, a small would-be settlement just below the "T" in "The Reed River" on the overland map. Her home is on the northern side of the bridge spanning a small chasm on the east side of the river. Once inside, speak with Melisande and ask her about the cure. She inquires about why you think she would know about such a thing, but then admits that she does know "a thing or two" about it. However, her information isn't free, and she asks that you retrieve her five empty Grand Soul Gems before she'll tell you anymore about it. Finding the gems is somewhat difficult, though you can actually pick up the first one right here in the witch's home. Drop down the trapdoor hidden within Melisande's fireplace and proceed into the room at the end of the hallway. It's in here that you'll find a bowl of various soul gems, one of which turns out to be a Grand Soul Gem. Melisande has no idea where it came from, so go ahead and grab it. The other four can be obtained via purchase or theft at the eight Mages Guild divisions within Cyrodiil's cities. In fact, a total of five more gems can be nabbed from the display cases within the Chorrol Mages Guild alone.

Once you have all five gems, hand them over to Melisande and she will make good on her promise. She tells you that she can create a potion that will cure vampirism, but she needs a few ingredients first: six cloves of Garlic, two shoots of Bloodgrass, five leaves of Nightshade, the blood of an Argonian, and the ashes of a very powerful vampire. Garlic is used for cooking and can be found just about anywhere in Cyrodiil. If you don't have any, seek it out from various vendors or search the Imperial Legion mess hall in Imperial City to find several cloves. Bloodgrass grows on the planes of Oblivion, so enter any of the Oblivion portals across Cyrodiil to begin your search. Nightshade is much rarer, so the easiest way to acquire some is to first pay a visit to The Main Ingredient in the Imperial City Market district. You'll find four of the leaves ripe for the taking on a display table within the shop. Since you need five of the leaves, though, you'll also have to grab at least one of the leaves lying on a table on the second floor of the Chorrol Mages Guild. I also found a single leaf in the chest containing the Redwater Slough Key found while pursuing the vampire Hindaril, though this could have just been a random coincidence.

To obtain the Argonian blood, Melisande hands you an Enchanted Dagger that has been imbued with the magic necessary to extract the blood you need. Of course, you'll first have to stab an Argonian (though you don't have to kill him), which means you'll need to use a little discretion if you do this within city limits where a guard might take notice. I broke into the home of Weebam-Na in Leyawiin and was able to get the blood I needed in no time.

As for obtaining the vampire ash, Melisande tells you that this ingredient will be the most difficult to acquire. Luckily, though, she already has a vampire in mind that will provide the potent reagent. His name is Hindaril, and he has been imprisoned underground near the North Panther River. The location is called Redwater Slough, and you can reach it by following the river's north shore just above the "r" in "Panther" on the overland map.

Redwater Slough is fairly small, but is patrolled by various undead, including vampires. Your first priority is to locate the Redwater Slough Key. This key can be found in a chest at the back of the large room you emerge into after swimming through the cave's main underwater tunnel (take a right at the first 'T' to reach this area). Once you have the key, backtrack and take a left at the first 'T' to find a locked wooden door that opens easily with your newly obtained key. Continue through this new area until you reach Hindaril's torchlit room. When I approached him, he took off running through the tunnel I just emerged from, only to grab a weapon at the nearest coffin and return to me swinging. Once you've sent him to the void, search his corpse to find the Ashes of Hindaril.

Once you have all the ingredients, return to Melisande and hand them over to her one-by-one. When she has everything she needs, she asks that you come back in twenty-four hours so that she has enough time to brew the potion. Give her the time she needs, then speak with her again to learn that she actually had enough of the reagents to create two doses. She hands you both the Vampirism Cure Potion and the Cure for Vampirism potion, the former of which you'll want to bring back to Count Hassildor for your reward. Should you ever need another potion in the future, Melisande promises you that she can provide it. Good to know.

Return to Castle Skingrad and tell Hal-Liurz that you have the cure for vampirism. She will lead you out into the castle's courtyard and then open a secret door leading to the Chamber of the Lost. Move down the cavernous hallway to find Count Hassildor sitting on a chair next to his comatose wife. To your surprise, Melisande is there too. Apparently the Count needs her to revive Rona long enough so that she can drink the Vampirism Cure Potion. As soon as you hand the potion over to the Count, Melisande casts the revive spell and Janus has his wife drink the elixir. The concoction actually kills her, which must have been the "peace" the Count had wanted for her. It seems strange that drinking the cure yourself doesn't have the same effect.

Regardless, once she dies, the Count will ask that you give him twenty-four hours to tend to the affairs of his dead wife. Wait around for a day's time, then tell Hal-Liurz that you need an audience with the Count again. He's in much better spirits this time around and thanks your for rescuing Rona from the state she was in. He then hands over a considerable amount of Gold (the amount of which depends on your level) as a reward for your services, which is a nice bonus considering that you were also able to achieve the reward of curing your own affliction. On elder scrolls 4 oblivion how do you return from being a vampire?

  • What new improvements are in Elder Scrolls Skyrim compared to Oblivion?

What new things are in the new Skyrim game compared to Elder Scrolls: Oblivion? What new improvements are in Elder Scrolls Skyrim compared to Oblivion?
Here are a few of the improvements:

-Weapons and armor no longer need to be repaired

-No more attributes, and birthsigns can be swapped as many times as you want, so an orc mage or a high elf warrior are equally as skilled as a usual warrior/mage race

-Enchanting items can now be done without having to join the mage's guild, and enchanting alters are very common

-Repeatable quests have been added for almost every faction, such as an infinite amount of ''go kill this'' quests for the fighter's guild

-They added in the same lockpicking system that was used in Fallout 3, I personally really love this improvement.

-You can now mine for ore that can be used to make armor, and are actually encouraged to do so as the best armors can only be made with this new smithing skill, or found VERY rarely in loot

-A new ''favorites'' bar, that is very useful if you're playing on the console, as you can now quickly access as many items/spells as you want instead of the only 9 or so that you could hotkey in Oblivion.
Dialogue and how the game doesn't stop and zoom in on the character u are talking to.

Dual wielding of spells and one-handed weapons. (Although the UI is a little clunky to switch stuff...even using the favourites option).

Skyrim actually runs smoother on my computer than Oblivion does (both are set to max settings).

The levelling system is better. U can encounter some unbeatable creatures when u are at beginning levels (like those ice trolls)

When u are in water currents u get pulled downstream and it's way harder to swim against the flow.

There are mouthy kids in the game...just like in the real world (too bad u can't backhand them)What new improvements are in Elder Scrolls Skyrim compared to Oblivion?

You wont need to play it for it to make sense, but you will get more immersed because you will be able to relate the games and continue farther in some aspects of the folklore such as the Dark Brotherhood.
I love The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion game, it's eaten up loads of my time and i hardly ever get bored of it.

The expansions are awesome- i wish it came with all of them (there are smaller packs that unlock certain areas) but it's still great. Only downside is that it has a few glitches and stuff, and some quests are bugged so you can't even finish them- but these are few and far between; most of the game is playable and awesome. If I start playing from The Elder Scrolls IV will I be confused about the story line?
I have it, the story doesn't say much but the game is very expansive and I highly recommend it to you. The general idea of the game is that you were in a jail cell for an unknown reason and the king sets you free because there is something special about you but then the king dies and your fate depends on you. There is some story but I don't think that it will relate much to skyrim at all.
Different stories overall, Oblivion was more about closing those dreaded demon gates, Skyrim is more of helping out the community and cities while defending from dragons.

You wont be confused of the story line, however If I was you I would DEFFINATLY give Oblivion a shot.If I start playing from The Elder Scrolls IV will I be confused about the story line?
No, you won't be confused. The story of Oblivion is irrelevant to Elder scrolls III morrowind. Play Oblivion, get skyrim and you'll understand in essence what they are talking about.
Skyrim does relate to Oblivion but not that much.

In elder scrolls oblivion for ps3 when do you get to the shivering isles?
so far the only way to get shivering isles on ps3 is to get the GOTY ed(game of the year) which is supposed to be coming out mid September on all platforms, there is no plans as yet to do downloads for ps3 version:o(
You would have to get the GOTY edition for the PS3. The shivering isles expansion is not available for the PS3.

If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?

I got hooked into Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Im thinking about getting and earlier title for the series. I know they have it on steam for $20 but I was wanting it on the xbox. If I buy the Game of the Year edition that is supposed to come with bonus content will I be able to play the bonus content if I am not the first owner? If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?
The Game of the Year edition came with the two downloads for the game added onto the disk the game comes on, and that isn't effected by who uses it, unless the disk is damaged. So basically, yes you can buy it used and still use the two expansions. If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?
If you buy the GotY edition for the xbox you will beable to get the dlc because it is on a disc that comes with it. I don't believe you could redeem codes on the original xbox so now worries of being used up. If it is like the GotY edition of Oblivion than it should come with a separete disc with the dlc so you download it off the disc.If I buy Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind For Xbox used, will I be able to install the bonus content?
trust me on this morowind is awful just awful compared to oblivion the game takes like 10 min to load every time u die u cant quick travel you cant kill someone with a sword to save ur life the story is messed up and stupid just trust me its the biggest let down ever compared to oblivion

  • Do you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?

I was thinking about getting Elder Scrolls: Skyrim but I would really like to know if Elder Scrolls series has a history of confusing storylines where you need the other games to understand it. Please only answer if you've played all the Elder Scrolls games.Do you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?
No you will not need to get the others to get whats going on. You can wikipedia the story lines and have a nice day. Don't stress about buying the other ones. Oblivion was fun and its a good game that will prepare you for Skyrim but then again you might just get tired of the Medieval RPG Scene by the time Skyrrim comes out if you play oblivion up until then. I played halo 3 like none stop and MW2 right before reach came out, and when it finally did I got bored of it fast. I play now but I got an overdose on FP Shooters. So in short, if you want to play an Elder Scrolls game, get Oblivion, but if you feel like you're missing out on alot of info before skyrim then just wikipedia the story lines and you'll be fine. No big dealioDo you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?
    Nah, not really.

You should be fine with just playing Skyrim.

I would recommend, though, that you play an Elder Scrolls game so you know you like it because Skyrim will be set up like the othersDo you need to play the previous Elder Scrolls games to understand/enjoy Skyrim?
No some people would probably play the first one to follow the plot but I have never played the ones before Elder Scrolls IV but I did enjoy it.
    Understand-Maybe.Enjoy-No.

What elder scrolls game should i start with?

What elder scrolls game should i start with? What game is the start of the series? For example, if you wanted to get into the fallout game series you would start with fallout 3 not 1 or 2 because they have nothing to do with the main story and are pretty bad in my opinion. What elder scrolls game should i start with?
Morrowind, then Oblivion, and then (when it gets released this fall) SkyrimWhat elder scrolls game should i start with?
I don't think any of them have anything to do with a main story. I mean you could play any of them without having to have played another one. With that said play Morrowind. Very fun, very free big world. Oblivion was fun until I beat the main story which was like 10 hours. They took out a lot of cool things from Morrowind like levitating and its too easy because they have a marker to tell you where to go. In Morrowind you actually have to explore and go off of vague clues to find what you're looking for. Much more fun:) Oblivion just felt like a set of instructions. Accept quest. Warp here. Fight vampire. Go back to person and get paid. Really fun....not.
