im thinking which sword is better ? the umbra is the strongest sword in the elder scrolls 4 oblivion but the elder scrolls 4 shivering isles is newer and the maddnes sword is the strongest in that game so since the madness sword is newer is it sronger ??? pleaz help .The elder scrolls 4 goty maddnes sword vs umbra ?
Based purely on damage, Umbra is stronger then a perfect Madness Longsword (the madness sword is level-scaled), however, the Madness sword also has a Damage Health enchantment, which will bring it's damage higher against enemies who can't resist the effect.
A Fine (or higher, Very FIne, Grand or Perfect) Madness longsword will do more damage then Umbra against enemies without any spell resistance, but possibly less against enemies who are resistng the effect. Umbra also has a Soul Trap effect, which will automatically fill your soul gems each kill, so you may prefer that if you use soul gems a lot.
