In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?

I.E. Surface Cyrodil, not talking about the dungeons and caves and such, but rather what are the real life measurements of the game is one where to measure from one end of the game map to the other?

I know, weird question, but the reason I as is that they actually do give measurements for the upcoming Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (roughly 16 sq miles), and I am trying to figure out what to expect from the game with one I already know.In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?
The series has always dramatically ratcheted up the map size from title to title, but Skyrim has been confirmed to be roughly the same size as Oblivion. The land of Skyrim covers approximately 16 square miles and contains 5 major cities and over 130 different dungeons to explore.

In interviews they did say its a little bigger than Oblivion though. In Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, how large was the actual play area?
Skyrim is roughly the same size as oblivion, but they have shtloads more content jammed into it.
