Will playing oblivion before the other elder scrolls be confusing?

If I buy Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, without playing the other elder scrolls(I, II, III, V, etc), will it be confusing, would I not understand some stuff?Will playing oblivion before the other elder scrolls be confusing?
Playing The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion before playing any of the other Elder Scrolls games wont be confusing. Each one of the games is based in a different provence of Tamriel, Oblivion is based in Cyrodill, while the others are based in the other provences. They arn't too tied together and you wont be confused if you havn't played the first 3. The story is great and all you could possible need to know is explained gradually throughout gameplay, have fun. :)
