Can I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?

I've been wondering about getting Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion for the Xbox 360 and I've wondered what kind of character I should have

I decided to try out full mage-thing but I'am not sure if you can play the whole game based on magic

can you?Can I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
Sure you could, but it is so much better and more efficient to just start choping down enemies.
yes u can because if you ever get into a close combat fight you can summon armor and weapons but its takes longer than any other class to level upCan I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
You can but it is very hard.I rely heavily on magic weapons and only use magic in a true emergency.Even the mages and wizards in the game have weapons on them, including staffs, daggers and other enchanted weapons. You will also have to deal with a limit on the magic you can cast at all levels unless you cheat using God Mode. You are better off using your magic until you run out then use your weapons to finish enemies off.
Yes i have a level 47 mage and his specialised skills are all magic. It is extremely easy when you reach the high levels but it's a painful slope. If i were you i would use at least 1 weapon type and the rest magic. Basically if you want to survive on magic then always use target spells and conjuration. Touch spells usually result in a nasty blow from an enemy.

Hope This HelpedCan I survive only on magic in Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion?
yes and no. Magic is a very powerful weapon in oblivion, but occasionally, when fighting a number of baddies at once, you may find your magicka depleted for a time, and a pure mage may have difficulties during the time it takes the magicka to build back up. Also, you'll experience difficulties when facing the lies of Mancor Cameron and people like him who are able to reflect all but the most powerful magic. The answer therefore is to be a battlemage, still a powerful magic user, but the battlemage is ok with a blade too - when you need it, the blade skill is very handy indeed
My mom is playing as a mage and she is better then my whole family put together. She can knock down her enemies- no matter how fierce or hard they are to kill- with one fireball. You can even join the Mages Guild to do quests specified around magic. However, it is always useful to have a good weapon in handy because Magica takes a while to regenerate.
Yea but its not as fun as being a melee fighter like a Nord.
No if your a lower level you will need a sword until you are a higher level. you should join the arena and level up there in the imp. city.
Yes, out of all the Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion is the most forgiving. You could get by using only your fists if you wanted to (believe me, I have tried it). Magic is probably the easiest class, but it isnt nearly as in depth as previous games. For example, in Morrowind, you can use levitation spells that allow you to fly, or slow your fall. Not so in oblivion, mainly because the cities are located in interior cells, so you can't reach them by jumping over the walls like in previous games in the series. Also, in oblivion, magicka regenerates over time, unlike in other elder scrolls games, where you need to sleep or use an item to recharge magicka. Hope this helped, and have fun playing oblivion.
